
My favourite artwork at this year’s NZ Sculpture OnShore is Sharon Earl’s Warhorse, a tribute to the centennial anniversary of the end of World War One, to the soldiers and horses that died. Of the estimated 10,000 horses that were shipped off to do their bit as part of the Mounted Rifles Regiment, only four horses are believed to have returned to New Zealand.
